Getting your certificate is not the end of the process. A U.S. trademark registration must be kept alive with periodic filings, and missing a deadline can cause the registration to be cancelled. We track your dates, prepare the paperwork and file it correctly, so the brand you worked hard to protect stays protected for the long run.
A Section 8 Declaration of Use is due, confirming that the mark is still in commercial use for the goods or services listed in your registration.
Your first combined Section 8 and Section 9 filing is due. It confirms continued use and renews the registration for another ten years.
The same combined filing repeats at each ten-year mark, so your protection can continue for as long as the mark stays in use.
If a deadline is missed, a six-month grace period generally applies, but an additional surcharge is charged. Filing on time is simpler and less costly.
After five years of continuous use, you may also file a Section 15 declaration to strengthen your rights. We can include it with your maintenance filing when you qualify.
Maintenance filings look simple but are strict about specimens, dates and the wording of goods and services. A small mistake can lead to an office action or, worse, a lost registration. We review your registration record, confirm what you are currently using the mark for, prepare the declaration and specimen, and submit everything within the filing window. You get a clear checklist, not guesswork, and a confirmation once your filing is in.
We keep renewal short and stress-free. Share your registration details and we take care of the rest.
